Day 7 & 8: Coffee, Beer and Sea sickness.( Boston, Gloucester, and Shelborne Falls)

I am so sorry for another late post. Yesterday was our last night in Boston and one of the cool couch surfers we've met invited us over for coffee. We had our all day planned out for the first time on this whole trip so far. By missing one tiny bus we managed to start a chain reaction. It went like this: We missed a bus to Harpoon brewery therefore missing the 2pm free beer tasting. Because we were already late we decided to walk through China town and then to the brewery for the 4pm tasting. By leaving the tasting 2 hours later than we would have we were on time for the library art and architecture tour. Because we were on time for the tour instead of getting to the library, wandering around ourselves and getting bored before it started, we didn't leave until after 7pm. Because we didn't leave until after 7 we just missed a train to Collin's area and had to wait 15 minutes for the next one. We didn't arrive at his house until 8. And because we didn't arrive until late Collin didn't start making his super complicated Coffee until late. Because Collin didn't start making his coffee until late we didn't leave his house until much later than anticipated. Because we didn't leave until much later, our host, Erin , could no longer pick us up at the train station. Because Erin couldn't pick us up we had to ride the commuter train to her house. Which, by the time we got off the last connection we had exactly 10 minutes to find and board the train. We ran! All of this lead up to us staring at a train attendant outside of our stop as he punched about 17 holes into the tickets that we hadn't had time to buy until just then. It all was non stop running! We are so much better at not having an agenda. ( And Heather this is for you: I detest the T! I really do. It is far to complicated. )
We did start the day yesterday with Tesla coils in Boston science museum. ( It was packed with small children and the exhibits were geared towards them and not Adults.)Then our chain of events happened. The tasting was excellent and it made me want to learn more about the history of beer. It made Tony want to brew beer and then drink it...and own a brewery... just so that he could fill up a beer mug at his brewery and then go back to a meeting about beer. I just wanted to learn about it!
The library tour was interesting. There are so many different artistic voices depicted within it's walls. Turning a corner there was like entering a different world. We saw beautiful murals, sculptures, and relifes.
And then there was Colin's house. Sitting upon his kitchen table as we walked in were two oddly shaped glass objects. One looked like a tiny glass cauldron and the other like a large tubular goblet of sorts. Tony and I frowned at each other have absolutely no idea what it was. It turned out to be a vacuum coffee pot. He roasted beans in front of us and then hand ground them. And then he brewed us a perfect cup of coffee. It all seemed very ceremonial to me and I couldn't help thinking that this is how it should be.
Today was a busy nothing day. We got up early, said goodbye to Erin and packed the car. As we drove to Glouster the sky became more and more ominous. As it began to rain we talked about the possibility of our Whale watch being canceled jokingly. When we got the it had been canceled due to high winds but the company just down the street was about to leave...
